From the recording Broken Daisies
Looking Up has been part of our live set for a while, so we're really glad to finally have a recorded version out there. It's a song about perspective — what we think we see, what we think we know, and how sometimes being brought back down to earth can actually help us see things a little more clearly. It's got a few twists and turns along the way and builds to an ending that's one of our favorite parts to play. Crank it up and enjoy!
Lyrics
Catch the wind, grasp it in your hand
Think again, if you think you can
Get it right…with all your might
Let His hand just pull you down
We see much better from the ground
Looking up, looking up at You
See the pawn waiting for the King
The bishop laughing, the knights begin to sing
Set it right, with all your might
Let His hand just pull you down
We see much better from the ground
Looking up, looking up at You
Our eyes cannot see
Through the lies and fantasies
That we make up down inside our head
Wear the face, the one that you believe
Just remember, before you take your leave
Set it right, with all your might
Let His hand just pull you down
We see much better from the ground
Looking up, looking up at You
Can’t take this, can’t break this
Spilling out into the streets like gold
Can’t stay here, can’t go there
The silver cord is broken
I’m getting old
Can’t start here, can’t stop there
Spilling out into the streets like gold
It’s a mind bend, and it won’t end
On and on into the light we go
On and on, and on into the light we go
On and on, and on into the light we go
On and on, and on into the light we go
On and on, and on into the light we go
